“A collection of sketches to help me preserve memories and experiences”
SKETCHBOOK
(Illustration Book)
(Introduction)
I cherish the memories of continuous self-directed learning, making new friends and admiring the scenery and culture that amazes me throughout the year in Bournemouth, UK. But how could I preserve them? Photography? Documentary?
I thus decided to create an illustration book. By proceeding to draw with traditional materials to preserve memories and experiences there, my aim was to push myself to probe and inspire, keep the artist spirit in my heart, and to further comprehend the values of traditional drawing and enjoy myself.
I was struggling with the decision of whether or not to persist in traditional drawing because I found it to be less developmental and commercial than digital drawing, but its existence and significance enabled me to hear the clear voice in my heart and motivate me to find a piece of my own sky and to be honest with myself.
The meaning of drawing may not be to discover the existing problems in a certain society and then to ameliorate them, or to convey ideas or notions to my audience, but instead to create a comfortable or sustainable choice, knowing how to be more determined and dedicated.
