“What I was looking forward to has happened, so now I can stand here”
Outside Shanghai
(Illustration Book)
(Introduction)
I was born and raised in Shanghai, and this is the first time I have travelled to such a distant country to study and grow. This illustration book contains some of the work, experiments and written narratives I have done to record and discover what I have observed and felt from study as well as life. In addition to that, based on the question ‘Who am I’, it explores and guides me to slowly open and move towards my own visual language
It is also dedicated to me as I didn't give up even though it was so difficult, and to you who have experienced pain but continue to grow.
I collected and selected materials from my usual shopping and supermarket trips to make a font collage and on the back was a question for myself: what do I want to do in the future?
What I preferred to say was that I doubted myself about my future career development before I started my MA Illustration program, but now I am determined to commit myself to the field of illustration since I found that I enjoy experimenting with diversed visual language and receiving constant and vast energies from each process and reflection.
