“Explore and prove the relationship between trees and me”

CONSIDERABLE

(Traditional Drawing and Screen Printing)

(Introduction)

The word ‘CONSIDERABLE’ is a high-frequency word in the Academic Word List (AWL) and is interpreted as ‘a lot; sufficient’. If you don’t recognise this word, it may be misunderstood as ‘considered.’ Like me when I had just graduated from university, I mistakenly judged things and people with my own opinions and values, whether about work or life.

In fact, it is not simple.

It has been a long time that I have felt miserable and hopeless until I noticed the existence of trees on the way to buy an Americano style coffee. They were clearly layered and shining under the sunlight. At that moment, I felt better and I seemed to see and witness the beauty and charm of trees.

For this reason, I gradually began to admire trees, which were stunning and powerful, standing without any emotion or pain. I intend to explore, observe and document the relationship between myself and trees.

‘Trees are the oldest organic matter on the earth’

Trees are tens of thousands of years older than the origins of human civilization. At the same time, trees also play an important role in the environment that humans depend on: purifying the air, providing oxygen, and fixing the soil.

If trees make me happy, do trees make others feel happy as well?

I would like to be a tree since they seem to be able to stand without pain and endure the wind and rain. Furthermore, they are not as complex and emotional as humans, so they do not feel pain easily. When I was in pain, there was a subtle connection between myself and trees; they enabled me to sensitize and slowly withdraw temporarily from the pain to see and perceive what I was going through in a new light.

I developed my projects further by screen printing to combine and superimpose colours as I want to know the meaning and feasibility of colour for the trees themselves, and what kind of use the colour will have for the trees.
