“Love is not just giving, but also selfish and possessive”



PERFUME

This project mainly explores what ambiguity is. Through research and thinking, I found that there are many things that can represent ambiguity. They may be tangible or intangible, and the one that makes the greatest impression on me is perfume.

Scent can make people fall into a familiar feeling, or recall the feeling of being obsessed with and missing someone in an instant. Therefore, I want to observe and explore why perfume can be used as an ambiguous medium based on the relationship between people.

The process of perfume birth is like the selfish possession of one of the parties in the ambiguous process of the earliest stage of love, so I express the four processes of "occurrence", "entanglement", "swallowing" and "birth".

I used a special material such as glue to create the colourless and odourless perfume of my imagination, and this acted to capture the other party. Similarly, the golden line represents the bondage, possession and selfishness of the other party during the process. I would like to express such emotions through the density and state of the line.

* Where did my inspiration come from? 
A song called SOME by the Korean girl group BOL4 touched me deeply. The lyrics express the feelings of girls who are entangled and caught in an ambiguous relationship, which enabled me to feel real and immersed.

* How did I conduct the visual research? 
I researched the work of Korean artist Eom Yu Jeong. I found that the characters she painted all had simple but complex expressions, which vaguely revealed a soft and firm power.

* How did I develop the experiment?
In addition to the installation, I imagined a small story about a villain and a lantern, and I designed their characters including actions, expressions and appearances. I hope that through this fantasy story, the possession and selfishness of both parties in the process of ambiguity can be expressed.

I aim to express people's desire to share and their feelings of being spied on by others through collage. Therefore, in the collage on the left, I used some special paints to express the feeling of being desirable with a strong mood.
